I have been wanting to sing this product’s praises since I first picked it up in Sephora while I was in New York last November. I have quite enlarged pores either side of my nose and I am always on the hunt for something short of Polyfilla to blur them. The best thing I found in the past was the Benefit POREfessional but I found that my skin got used to it and it stopped working as well. I also found it felt a little greasy which I was not a fan of.
Make Up For Ever released a range of Step 1 Skin Equalizers last year and the beauty world went wild for them. There are nine different primers in the line, each one focused on a different problem. There is one for Mattifying, one for Hydrating, one for Nourishing, a Redness Corrector, a Pink Toned Radiance Primer, a Blue Toned Radiance Primer, a Peach Toned Radiance Primer, a Yellow Toned Radiance Primer and the one I opted for, the Smoothing Primer. They all sound appealing but I knew that pore filling was my main aim and I had heard a lot of hype surrounding this one in particular.
The Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Smoothing Primer is said to instantly fill in and blur imperfections for silky soft skin. It claims to have a satiny, non-oily formula that evens skin texture by minimising pores, wrinkles and fine lines. It also promises longer staying power for makeup applied on top.
I never thought I would be able to capture the power of a blurring primer in a photograph but I guess it goes to show how incredible this is. As the name suggests, I use this as the first step in my routine. I squeeze out a little drop on to my fingers and massage it into and around my nose. With products like this, I really find that working it into the pores helps.
And here’s a photograph with my foundation on top. Just look at how smooth it looks with not a hint of a pore in sight! This product is absolutely magic. It doesn’t feel greasy or oily like the POREfessional did and it does exactly what it is supposed to do. I have been wearing it every day since picking it up in November and my skin hasn’t got used to it yet so I’m hoping this continues to impress me. It has become an integral part of my routine.
I picked up the travel size 15ml tube in Sephora for $17 while the full size 30ml retails for $37. This is actually one of those rare occasions where the mini works out cheaper than the full size! According to the website it seems that Make Up For Ever, Clarendon Street only do the full size tube and it costs €33. If pores are your problem, I cannot recommend this enough.
Have you tried any of the MUFE Step 1 Primers?
