If you have been reading my blog for a while, you know that I am a huge fan of the Lime Crime Velvetines. I wrote a blog post showcasing the first three I bought and then another haul post featuring even more shades. I am a liquid lipstick obsessive and these easily come out on top as my favourite formula. If you are concerned about the Lime Crime drama, you can read my stance on it in my second Lime Crime haul post but for today, I just want to focus on the pretty lipsticks.
Coincidentally, it was the very day that I received my last batch of Velvetines that I received an email telling me that there was a sale on and I was so high off that fresh haul scent that I immediately put in another order – before even swatching the ones I had bought! I have had these shades a while now but I didn’t want to overload the blog with Lime Crime so have been waiting to post this for months.
I opted for the Lime Crime Best Sellers Bundle which retails for €69.57 (They claim it has a value of €92.76 but as some of the shades are now reduced, it actually would cost €77.89 to buy each one individually) and features five full size Velvetines. I have featured four of them below as one of the shades – Cashmere – I already owned and reviewed before. I also bought the shade Cement separately as it was on sale although I can’t remember the exact price I paid.
The full price for a Velvetine is €18.55 but on the website at the moment, many of them are on sale for a variety of prices so I have listed the current selling price for each of the colours down below in case you’re interested in buying them separately instead.
The first shade in the bundle was Teddy Bear which is described as a lilac brown.
My friend Aundrea who is a Lime Crime obsessive recommended this one to me and the second I saw it online, I knew I would love it. I was going to pick it up anyway until I noticed it came in the bundle. It is a stunning pink brown that is neutral and wearable while still being completely unique.
It is sort of a dark nude against my fair skin but I find it so versatile. It is so easy to wear with any kind of eye look, even ones incorporating bright colours, because of its neutral undertone. This has become one of my most reached for Lime Crime shades.
It is currently on sale for €16.69.
The next colour is Polly which is described as a pink mauve.
I love a good mauve toned lipstick which is why I thought I would get on well with this one however on the lips this is a lot pinker than I assumed it would be. I would describe this as more of a lavender pink.
I think the shade is really pretty in these photos but I can’t say it is one I reach for often. I have avoided pinks for a long time because of my red hair but I have recently gone back dark so maybe I just need to allow pinks back on my radar again. If you like a pink nude, I can see this being a favourite for you. It is definitely one of the most wearable shades I own.
It is currently on sale for €12.98.
Next I chose the shade Beet It which is described as a deep berry pink.
If you imagine a piece of pickled beetroot and how it dyes everything else in a salad the same pinky-purple colour, this is that exact shade. It is really unique and so pretty on the lips.
I tend to veer towards vampy reds or deep purples but this is that perfect berry that I feel most people could experiment with even if they usually fear darker lipsticks. This is the epitome of that Autumnal berry mouth.
This is currently on sale for €16.69.
A shade I have been lusting after for a while is Wicked which is described as a blood red.
It is a gorgeous deep vampy shade that I adore. I always gravitate towards colours like this and while this is dark, it isn’t the darkest I own so much like the Beet It shade, I think this is good for those who fear darker lips.
This looks a little patchy in the photographs but I can assure you I have never had any issues with it. I swatched so many lipsticks when taking these photographs and I think it was actually some sort of lip rebellion as opposed to the lipsticks themselves. This is a stunner and I’m so glad I finally got my hands on it.
This is currently full price at €18.55.
The final shade I purchased – the one that didn’t come in the bundle – is definitely one that will divide people. This is Cement which is described as a cool grey.
As you can see in this photo, my application leaves a lot to be desired but this is actually the one shade I had a little bit of bother with. Again, perhaps we could blame my sore, dry lips but I think it is just a little streaky and takes a little bit more work than the others.
I know this isn’t going to be for everyone but I love an unusual lip colour so this is right up my alley. I actually think it is quite flattering to boot and I’m definitely going to experiment with this as a liquid liner too.
This is currently on sale for only €4.63!!!
So just to catch you up, I decided to collate all of the Velvetines I own into one collage so you can compare shades. Any that aren’t mentioned in this post are reviewed in the other two posts mentioned above.
These are my favourite liquid lipsticks as they have a very thin, almost oily feeling formula which is unlike any other I have tried. They also dry down quickly and once completely matte, are almost undetectable on the lips. They don’t feel crusty or Sahara-like. It feels like you have nothing on at all. Their wear time is fab and just look at that range of colours! I honestly cannot fault them and I cannot recommend them enough.
Have you tried Lime Crime Velvetines yet?
